Full moon the coons will stir before the moon comes up and after it sets right before daylight. You may get one during other times now and then but the majority of the movement will be during the times I mentioned. Dark moon nights the coons will begin moving about the time it gets real good and dark and stir pretty steady all through the night.

Several years of continuous trail cam footage is how I learned that.

Also a lot of times on full moon nights you can turn loose a half hour or so before dark and catch them coming to water or food sources and hit some real good hot tracks.

Just how tough can it be folks, this is still October. Whats gonna happen when we get to the December and January full moon?? Here in SE Ohio, October and April are the two easiest months of the year to tree coons.

I guess I'm just jealous that I still have to wait 10 more days till my season comes in. LOL. One reason that it may be getting harder to tree coons is that the rifle has not been put up all year. That will usually make them danged coons a little smarter, at least the ones that have survived the past 9 months. One other thing I would recommend is to hunt an English hound. That will help you a little. Sorry guys, I didn't mean to say that, but I just couldn't resist, LOL!!

Enjoy your season, and your hounds, no matter what color, shape, size, or breed you like to hunt!!

I recently got back from northern lower Michigan coon hunting . Did ok but the primary food was acorns and they were everywhere this year. Other years there were hot spots to look for but this year might find one almost anywhere if you're timing was right.

Hello there Brack, how you doing my friend. Are you coming this way anytime in the next month or two or should I be plugging at Ole Red Wood Jeff and have him come with me to your neck of the woods. It has already been way too long since our last hunt.

I'll tell jeff tomorrow to get the truck gassed up and we will see just how tuff this whole coonhunting adventure turns out to be. LOL Ole Holly will probably tree so fast the she will beat the coon to the tree , but if she does, it wouldn't be the first time, LOL. Take care, hope to see ya soon!!!

The week before last i seen plenty of coons crosssing the road ont the way to work! I tell u what ive seen more than ever this year is the amount of coons killed in thne road! One day between Natural bridge an Verionia (45 miles) an back agin i counted 13 killed on 81! I work construction so i get alot of windsheild time never have i seen so many run over! I dont know if this means we have more coons than we use too or more of the few that we have r geting runed over!

Past couple days been seeing them on the road just before dark. Been doing good hunting early. Last night didn't cut loose till 11 and didn't do so good only made one drop and it was first time I had this new dog out so it could have been that too!! Lol one slick, then the clouds disappeared and it got so bright I didn't even need a light could see about as good as daylight and I hate that so I went home.

its some of both i think, not as many coons as once was, and the highway gets alot of the ones there is. hunted last night did'nt do anygood, treed a grinner about amile away, and seen another when stopped to listen. on way home seen 2dead coon on road and seen 2 eating something throwed out on side of road. they'll probally be dead soon, roads get a lot when its dry, period.
