8 week old pup treeing

Is it normal for a 2 month old pup that has never been worked with to tree on a coon hung up in a tree? I have worked with several pups the last few years and have never had one do this. Whats the chances of the pup making a great dog?

Depends on how he is trained from here on out he sounds natural I've seen dogs that wouldn't tar a caged coon up make better dogs then ones that would but both did good on the hide the trick is to get them treeing with thier nose an not thier eyes

I agree 100% and the funny thing is that the hide was drug for other dogs and I was just letting my pup out to run. I watched him run by the tree and start sniffing around. He actually found it with his nose but when he seen it all hell broke loose. It makes it alot more enjoyable training wise when you have one that shows a little promise that young.
