Did this the past 2 nights Ive had him out never had trouble with trash but done know if he might b working a possum or something up n wont open I cut him n a field full of deer last night n he ran past them and worked around n a creek for bout a half hour then I called him out.
Could be something physically wrong with him, that you can't examine or diagnose yourself and he doesn't really show symptoms of; for example something wrong with his throat, ears, nose, etc. I would take him to a vet for a check up just in case.
If nothing is physically wrong with him, I'd maybe lay him up for a few days, maybe even a week. Especially if you have hunted him hard since he was young. Pups and young dogs will sometimes come on like wild fire and then peter out, due to being over worked. Sometimes they are just fatigued, others get a little burnt out, or bored. At a young age they are yet to fully mature physically, they get tired and sore just like us. So a little rest and recharging maybe all he needs.
