built in dog houses

I am gonna build some sleeping boxes inside my shed and would like to see pictures anybody has of similar set ups. I'm using barrels mounted inside now and am just not happy with them. I have 3 holes along a 16' shed with galvanized swinging doors. I'm thinking i will build a full length box with individual hinged lids and dividers.

I'm guessing that means you have three runs that are about five feet wide and each box inside the shed will be 5+ feet wide and maybe 2or 3 feet deep. That's a big box for one dog but good for several dogs As long as one dog does not stand guard at the door. If the outside run is only ten feet long , then that is cramped for three dogs. I like to feed and water from inside the shed in case it's raining. I use one LIXIT waterer per run inside the shed to keep it from freezing but I don't have to worry much about freezing down here. I have something similar and my box only takes up two feet but it comes in the shed four feet. I have holes cut in fencing inside the shed for TWO dogs to stick their heads through and eat on both sides of the box after they get inside. Actually one is a gate with a head hole cut in it. The outside runs are 30 feet long and on the ground because I don't like scooping turds and don't need to. I have had a mean bitch house guarder or two in my life and put another box on top on the first box to let the other dog jump into.

Draw me a picture. I can't draw.

Yeah i have 3 runs 5' wide. The sleeping boxes won't cover the entire 5' for each dog there will be some wasted space that could be used for misc storage.

Or head holes cut on both sides of the house. That way they won't turn a pan over as you pour the feed in . I have gave away more pups than I have kept for turning a feed bowl over as I was pouring the feed in. It doesn't take much for me to cull. LOL.

Dog box

Here is what i came up with. Not to hard to build. Boxes are about 4 feet, middle box is for dog food storage, floor's are plywood with 2'' styrofoam insulation underneath for winter time. Have 4 runs 5 x 10 on outside. K9 condo make's a real nice galv. swinging door you can lock open in summer time for more air. Have hinged lids on inside that make feeding simple, just mounted plastic feeder's on inside to feed them.

Thanks a lot Jon, that's exactly what i had in mind with the floor insulation and everything. I already have the k9 kondo doors and love them. Do you have 1 compartment or 2 for each dog? That's the only thing i'm stuck on is whether or not to have 1 or 2 compartments for wintertime. Lance, i'll have to check out Steve's, thanks.

if you put 2 sections with a baffle wall, if they get on the other side of the baffle wall, then they will be much warmer.

why not put some sort of window on the inside, maybe plexiglass so as not to allow cold air in building or something so that you can see them and they can see out???

Dog box

I just have one compartment, but installed door on far side to keep wind away, and they can lay on the other side. You probably need a pretty big box to have 2 compartment's in there.
