Im fixing to order me a new set of boots, and although i know the brand i was wondering the pro s and con s of the leather work boots versus the rubber boots....

You beat me to the post! I am fixing to order too, and have always wanted a pair of leather boots if they can hold up in water as well as rubber, so maybe we will get an answer. Thanks for posting this

if your gonna hunt with them get rubber.... the leather ones i got would dry stiff and you had to break them in every night because of it... mine also were not 100 % waterproof like they said they were.... leaked from day 1

From what i've heard about Tenessee you've probably got hills. Walking up a lot of hills in rubber boots isn't much fun.

all leather boots leak they can only soak up so much water. even if you put so called water repellent on them.

I guess I won't be going with leather if they stiffen up that bad after much time in water. Patches, did yours leak bad?

Get you some good leather boots for every night and get you a cheaper pair of rubber boots and throw them behind the cab of the truck for when your hunting an area you will need to wade deeper water. Rubber boots in the hills and thickets don't hold up very well.

Hills? In West Tn?
I hunt mountains and would never leave the truck in anything but rubber boots with chaps. Keep the briars off of ya and the water especially in them swamps. Love that swamp huntin just gotta drive 2 hrs to find one from here.

Go with Lacrosse or mucks rubber boots with chaps.

I started wearing the valley creek waders with the leather lacrosse boots a couple years ago. I'll never go back to a rubber boot unless they quit making them. I hunt in south georgia and we hunt a lot of swamps. Never had any trouble with mine leaking. They will stiffen up some after getting wet but thats just a leather boot for you. After you put them on for afew minutes they lose the stiffness. My first pair is two years old, they're pretty scuffed and scratched up but still no leaks. No problem out of the chaps either. Much more comfortable to me than a rubber boot. I would recommend them.

I tried the LaCrosse leather Wellinton's for about a year. My biggest complaint is that when chafe from brush works down inside the chap it gets into the boot. Because the Wellington's don't fit tight to the calf the sticks, stems, and jaggers were constantly falling into the boot and I would have to pull the boot off in the woods to clean all the junk out. I had no trouble with leakage, but, I got tired of taking my boot off in the woods to dump out briars.

I got the Valley Creek leather boots and like Jim A. said above, I will never go back to rubber. I can cross creeks, wade rivers, etc, etc and haven't had a leaky boot yet.

My pair is almost 2 years old and hoping they hold up until Autumn oaks!!!!! Gonna get another pair.

The leather might be a little more expensive, but mine have outlasted any rubber boot I've used.

I was going through 2+ pairs of rubber boots and chaps each year.

Leather boot wearer for life!!!!

If you hunt a lot get the old style lacrosse boot that is rubber and all one piece. All these new boots with the soles glued on leak by the time I have hunted two months in them. Yes the newer style is more comfortable for the first two months but there is nothing comfortable about wet feet.
