There are good and bad in all dogs. I personally prefer English dogs. Heck if you are not having much luck go ahead and try something different. Just make sure if you buy an older dog you hunt with it a few times. If you buy a pup make sure you get a well bred pup. I wish you good luck with whatever you do.

I hunt English Hounds

I'm 55 yrs. old. When I first started coonhuntin',I started goin' with a high school friend whose Dad owned a bluetick.I got hooked.Wasn't too many years later,I bought my first coondog. It was an English hound. And a pretty darn good one.I've hunted English ever since because I've always had pretty darn good results with them..I think the best one I ever had was outta Larry Wilcox' BINGO dog.It was a female.I'd give anything to have her now. No,I think it is safe to assume that I will die an English man.

I have heard some good stuff about the english dogs. The walker dogs seem more like a money making buisness nowadays. I believe im going to give english a run.

I have had a walker dog and english dog for the last several years. Had a few really nice dogs 8f each breed. To me these 2 breeds are easy to start and can tree you alot of coon.

There are quite a few dogs out there in the English breed to choose from.I would first do my homework and see what coondogs are producing the highest % of coondogs. What type of hunt in a dog that you are lookin' for and such.i think probably the top 2 males right now are Big River JESSE LEE owned by Rory Cowles of Indiana & Thunder TOP GUN owned by Larry Wilcox of Michigan. My personal opinion though, you really need to look at which females out there have the highest %'s.JMO.

good lines

ONEY'S, MAINSTREET, BIG RIVER,WILCOX. IT ALL DEPENDS WHAT YOU LIKE IN A DOG I LIKE COLD NOSED FAST TRACK DOGS THAT SHOW ME COON AFTER COON. I DONT NEED ONE THAT IS THE HARDEST TREE DOG AS LONG AS IT IS A TRACK STAR. AND HAS GOOD BALANCE. MY ONEY MALE TREED 29 TIMES IN JUNE SHOWED ME 27 COONS 1 DEN A 1 TREE THAT WE COULD NOT FIND A COON IN IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN SLICK BUT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A COON UP THERE SOME WHERE IT WAS PRETTY BIG AND LEAFY.

Jeremy

Nat crossed his Buster dog to Ronnie Barbour's Goldie.Buster is outta Ashley's Red Cloud.Back 4 or 5 yrs. ago Nat crossed Cloud to Goldie with great results.I think nat and Ronnie made this cross last month.I'd call Nat or Ronnie.A buddy of mine got a pup outta the Cloud X Goldie cross.Nearly all them pups turned out to be coondogs. If you need their numbers let me know.
Rob

My friends male outta Cloud X Goldie.LOUD,LOUD,LOUD!!!!!!

all walkers are not created equal. contrary to popular belief, all dogs do not tree slick. find a breeder that does not think nite hunt titles are traits and means "well bred" .

I woud go with Wilcox, Briar Creek, Timber Valley or Mainstreet. Of course there are many more fine lines of dogs out there. I have liked what I hunted out of these lines,

Guod luck finding what you like.
