Collection and storing is what I'm going to start out with.
I'm very familar and good at doing AI breeding's in dogs, As I have been trained to do it. I also do AI Breedings in Goats, Cows and Horses Everyday.
I'm going to be looking into doing the AI business here in a Clienteele setting, but as I have discussed and learned a traveling Collection and Storing Business is much needed.
Your right, progesterone levels are you most accurate way of telling if the female is ready to breed. Beginning heat cycle shows about 2-5ng on the progesterone test. I've seen some young dogs take on AI breeding at 10 nanograms and some go as high as 60 nanograms. It use to cost an arm and leg to get a progesterone test done, but ever since Pre-Mate came out, it isn't as bad. A full functional lab isn't neccesarily required.
As far as vaginal swabs, it is cheaper and pretty accurate, IF, you know what your looking for. You have to be able to tell if the cell is cornified to be in full standing heat. Once you know what to look for on the microscope slide you will be able to know when to breed.
Thanks,
Jeremy
