Do most young dogs have small litters on 1 st time breeding or does it just vary dog to dog .she has 5 days left and looks like she is starting to drop sum but she doesn't look to have a big litter

Its different from dog to dog.I had a mother and daughter blueticks that had 4 litters between the 2 of them and they each had 7 and raised 6 in every litter.

A female that is going to get a big litter will have put on a lot of belly by mid way through her sixth week of pregnancy. It's hard to say if all litters will be the same size out of a female. If they are always bred on the correct day of their heat cycle they should have litters of about the same size up until about nine years old.
