you can download the removal tools onto a floppy

the welchia worm and the blaster worm are the ones the computer shop say are hitting hardest..download the removal tools onto a floppy and save them ,as you can't download them when the worm's get you..and the shops will charge you $30 or more and may formatt your computer too..they(worms) are hitting windows xp ..i think this link will take you to the download site ..
http://securityresponse.symantec.co...tools.list.html

also scan all floppys before opening them as i scaned some new never used memorex floppys and they had the nyb viris on them..i ripped them appart so they couldn't be used again.it's better to be prepared than have to pay someone for something you can do yourself..read the file on how to turn off the restore file so the fixit program can do its job completely..

had to reformat the home computer last night as something dumped the cd rom drives and after refomating everything it starting working again, then i checked my email and thats when the welchia worm got me..glad i had my laptop so i could download the fixit programs..and had my 250mgb zip disk installed on the new computer so i was able to save most of my pictures...those that don't know what a zip disk is,its like an oversize floppy....

Everyone should be protected by a virus detector. I use AVG. It is free at www.grisoft.com. They can also scan your computer to see if you have a virus. I use a hotmail account for my public e-mail address. All of their e-mail is scaned by McAfee for free. My ISP has Postini e-mail protection to stop virusses and spam. I feel like I am fairly well protected.

i have had windows 98 and me on all my computers with norton antivirus protection and not had any trouble till i got the new 2.5 system with windows xp pro....the norton caught the worm but it had shut down the modem from going online to download the fixit tool...found some old 133meghertz computers for $25 at a shop and have windows 98 loaded on it for a backup computer ,in case these new wondermachines drop the ball again..lol..plus i have saved some of these fixit files onto floppys as most floppys will load even when a viris gets you..
