rolling Hills

Bill Mick started probably in the 60s Tim and Rick are the sons, and now his grandsons have been hunting a few years. I believe they all live in Holton Ks. Last Sat. Tim won nt ch with his Star female, and I believe Skylor,Bill grandson was hunting a female of Bill's, and put a 1st on her. Pretty nice dogs through the years. Rolling Hills Dan was a good one!!

Didnt The Rollin hills stuff kinda originate from the Kaw River Chief and Tinsleys Kansas Tess cross kinda like the House Stuff? Seemed like I heard that some where. I think one of the Rollin Hills dogs was a littermate to House's Tom maybe. Correct me if I am wrong....wayyyyyy before my day but I do like the history of it all.

chief and tess

Yes, Rolling hills dan, Queen of Hearts,Kedricks Hoss, and Tom Tomwas litter mates. I think most of them placed in the world hunt with Tom Tom winning it. There might have been one more in that litter.LeRoy came from a cross between Dan and Jim Kolls female . Tight on trail but he sure could find a coon quick and always had the meat.

What I really liked about my old dog was that he was straight . One night I saw him ahead looking for a track and a posum was about ten feet away and he never paid any mind at all . To me that's very important . Voice was not the loudest but you could always hear it . Well mannered hound also . If other Rolling Hills are like him , I'd be pleased .

Seems to me the Pedro boys were in on that line. Ron Pedro if I remember right. I talked to them at a hunt in Altoona years ago and im pretty sure that was the bloodline.

You're on the money.

Rolling hills dan was a littermate to Tom Tom and out of Kaw River Chief. All of my dogs go back to that cross way way back. I had a Granddaughter to Kaw River Chief that I crossed with a Grandson of Tom Tom and got a litter of 7 of the hardest treed dogs I ever owned. They are still reproducing down the line to this day. If you think about it, that was one of the better crosses ever made. Ranks right up there with some of the hotter Sackett crosses.

I have always been intrigued with lines of dogs that seem to past the test of time. I started calling Rick probably about 5 years ago. I would call him and we would just talk (much much too long).lol

Well, out of the blue one day, I told my wife I would like to go to Kansas and meet Rick. She told me to go ahead and go. I called Rick and he said to come down. I jumped in my truck and drove 17 hours straight through to the old hotel in Holton. We talked all day and hunted most of the night. I saw several of Rick's dogs go, and ended up buying a pup the next morning.

What I have seen out of the Rolling Hills line are dogs that run a track with their head up, are fast track dogs, are accurate almost to a fault, and are fairly easy handling. In fact, i recently bred my old male to the pup I purchased from Rick about 2 1/2 years ago.

Do you happen to have Ricks number ? The dog I had was a lot like that . I guess I like to call him just a good honest hound . I'd like to see what he might have down there .

Rolling hills

Thanks Guys, I just had a litter of pups using a son of Rolling hills Jane x Durbins Rambler ,crossed onto one of my line bred Brookshier females...they
Should be a real good ones...
I remember when I was younger hearing about the rolling hills dogs, always wanting to try one. but never getting the chance...Life's funny, cause here I'am 20 yrs later using it in my breeding program ...
I sure do appreciate all the time and effort that guys like Steve Brookshier, Bill,Tim,& Rick Mick, Robert Starke, that just names a few .,put into these hounds, line breeding, generation after generation...Sure did make it easier for guys like me ,to have the right kind of coon dog...
Oh, and I said easier NOT Easy.!! Lol. Ain't nothing easy about breeding the right kind of coon dog, generation after generation...
Thanks again Fellas..Good Hunting.

Whiner is the Prepotenant male I'm using on my line bred Brookshier females. I believe these are 3 of the best lines, there is..Why not put them all together. (Rambler x Rolling Hills x Brookshier)..Guess we'll find out...

--Durbins Rambler

Grntch Hardwood Whiner

..........Rolling Hills Pedro
.....Rolling Hills Leroy
..........Hard Track Andy's Mandy
--Rolling Hills Jane
..........Rolling Hills Ranger

Ace and micks

I hunted with Ace Wednesday night looked sharp. I was thinking that rick Mick bred a rolling hills female to him but not sure if she took.

Tony is right the Micks are some of the best houndsmen that ever drew a breath and if the come to town its cause they are packing a coondog!
