chiggers, i dont hunt blues anymore but i have had 2 hammer dogs that i would turn loose with anyones hounds and you wouldnt be embarassed, the 1rst one i owned was a direct son of hammer 7 he was an excellent dog from strike to tree with an above average mouth. could hunt anything with him perfect disposition.

the 2nd 1 i owned was out of a son of hammer 13 he was a real good dog from strike to tree but was a little to independent when i first started him but he came around thru hunting . he had a good mouth . would stay under any amount of pressure.

both dogs would always have a coon or a legitimate den tree.

i wouldnt be scared to hunt another hammer dog if i hunted blueticks.

hope this helps , later warn

I dont think you can summerize all of deans dogs or anyline of dogs into mouth and ablity. you will have a mix of different traits with every breed, with the exception of a few things that tend to come along with a certain bloodline. a dog is a dog, prolly doesnt answer your question

Warn- there will be some more hammer13 pups in the future, if your are interested keep me in mined

oh one of those traits that tends to come along with a hammer dog, locate. the all dont have it , but the ones that do, it is very distinctive

Yea, but I am Mainly just a Pleasure hunter and I like a hound Bawl on the track and a steady chop on tree. I like them with sense in and out of the woods.

Hammer dog

Chigger so many traits can depend on the female too. Do your homework on the female also

congrats Jason

Good job with Jed. I have hunted with him up here he is a fine hound and you have done an awsome job with him. Another Hammer dog doing a bunch of winning imagine that. I talked to your grandpa last week and he was very proud of what your doing down there with those hounds. We will have to keep in thouch, I have some of that stuff thats running thru Jeds veins here as well. I wouldnt mind getting a pup from him sometime. Dave

JED IN KENTUCKY

I had Jed here in Kentucky for close to a year and after hunting him a few times it was easy to see that something sure was wrong with this hound. He had all the system of a dog with heart worms and soon I was in contact with Dave as what to do about it treat him or let it go. I took Jed in for a check up and no doubt he was full of heart worms I contacted Dave for a decision on what to do with Jed and at that time Dave told me he would send a treatment for Jed.......... a week or so past and another phone call or two and no treatment arrived . At this time I decided to take the hound on to the vet. for the treatment and did and he was treated and cured in a few weeks. While Jed was here he was hunted with some fine hounds and did a fair job nothing that would turn anyones head but would run and tree with other dogs and did tree a few coon on his own. He didn't seem at this time to have that want to in him that I have seen in that line of dogs through the years past his hunting was nothing to brag on and only a fair tree dog. I am happy that he came on and made the dog he is now...........

Jed (Bruiser).

The last two or three time I've hunted with the ole boy, he has looked pretty darn good. Jason has put alot of work into him. I wouldn't mind feeding the ole boy. Good luck with him Jason.

Jed had all the tools and would get into the country when he was up here. The only thing he needed was to get into the right hands, it looks to me like that has happened now. Great job with with him. I know you plan on doing some winning with him yet. Dave
