I took my 8 month old pup on her 2nd cast, just a club buddy hunt. We turned loose and she got second strike and after a short race first tree. Her and another female where talking to him. As the tree was about to close the third dog came in and was treed. Walking into the tree we got within 50yds and all heck broke loose my pup came flying out. One of the two dogs had caught her, my guess it was the male. I just hooked her up and withdrew. My question is she ruined? How do I proceed? I think its part my fault as she does jack the tree a little. I just hope all my hard work isnt down the drain....

probaly not , but id keep a young pup that age outta a hunt regaurdless of it being a buddy hunt . i wont even put one in a hunt til 2 . tree jacking will start a fight everytime , id hunt it and try breaking it , but usually one that tree jacks that ive seen will always do it . try teing it back everytime when you get to the tree , i wouldnt go beating it around the tree but try and correct it best you know how , mightive been good that dog thumped it , mightive learned a lesson , hope it works out for ya .

well the way i see it is this---any pup that is gonna jack the tree is gonna find out real quick how much bottom they have.
