Your Opinion On Females

Does breeding a female tend to make them more aggressive or less aggressive after she has her puppies? I've heard it can calm one down. I don't know, tell me what y'all think.

In my experience breeding a female before shes 3 typically does more bad than good and breeding them after 3 can do alot of good....just depends on the female I'd say. As far as aggressive, I'd say it still depends on the dog

Depends on the dog and the handler. If they get protective toward the pups and you let them get away with it. Then yes they can get more agressive. If you make them acept you and others handleing the pups then it can do just the opposite.
As far as seattleing them down. I think most say that mean it as seattleing them down nerve wise not temperment wise.

i had one that was very protective to the point that no one could get near her except me. bred her at about 3 and for 2+ yrs later, she was a different dog. anyone could come up to her. her old ways started creeping back in. bred her again last yr, no problems at all. at 10 she is still doing fine, no more aggressive or attitude than she ever had. I also have one of her pups (7yo) and she gave him a talking to last week!! he was cowering! guess she's still got it.

I had two differnt females i bred at 2,,,,,they were just right there at the edge of being a top hound,,,,circumstances both tims i had to take a lil time off from hunting....so i had them bred....after the pups were weaned and moms all dried up. i took them back to the woods,,,,,they clicked,,,,,dint take either one long to make nite champion.

niether female could care less who touched the pups...tho they wanted just as much petting as the pups........

My personal opinion

You shouldn't breed ANY female before 3 yrs. old in the first place.I don't care how good of a coondog she is.Now,i have had a couple that were a little aggresive after whelping. But not towards me or anyone else that she was accustomed to bein' around.JMO.
