Dc40 Won't Turn On

I have never had any trouble with my dc 40 until last night. I took it off charger and it would not turn on. I put it back on charger and the blue light would blink fast about 3 times then a long pause and blink 3 times and keeps repeating. I took it back off charger and still won't come on. I thought I seen where some one had similar trouble on here but can't find it now. Anyone have any ideas besides smacking it across the back truck bumper.? Thanks.

yea, buddy of mine just bought a new system with dc 40 last week pulled it out of the box and charged up the collar and turn it on one time and it quit for good sent it back and was replaced . It is problaly because they are using lithuim batteries to get the extended battery life at the same time acheiving the same size collar but i have notice lithuim's are more likely to fell quite often .

I have been messing with it. According to the hand held 220 it showed it working but no "on indicator light" I have not checked for distance yet. But just stepping outside with them side by side it said it was on, but the collar has no lights on when off the charger.

I was watching it on charger. It would flash 5 times then long pause and keeps repeating that sequence. Anyone know that flash code ?

If your handheld will recognize the collar i.e. it is linked up and shows the collar to be powered on. Then you might first try downloading the upgraded software for your Garmin Astro handheld unit, also be sure to upgrade you DC-40 collar as well. The Astro 220 and the DC-40 have experienced an untold number of issues since it first debuted. Fortunately this is why Garmin offers so many fixes and software updates to fix any of the mistakes they might have made or things they might of missed in the first go around. Currently the latest version for the Astro handheld unit is version 3.70 and the latest version for collar including the (DC-20, DC-30 and DC-40) is version 4.0.

P.S. I decided to post a link to Garmin’s website where you or anyone else can find and download the WebUpdater wizard needed to install any update or change made by Garmin.

Good luck in fixing your collar, I hope this will help.

DC40

I had mine to do the very same thing last month. called Garmin and they had me send it back in, in 12-14 days I had a new collar in my mail, I can't argue with that kind of service.
