needing mentors for coonhuntin!

ok so i use to coonhunt when i was in jr high but then got out of it and was in to girls. well i just got back into coonhunting and i need a mentor someone who is pateitn and understanding of dogs and who honestly can train a coonhound and or coondog from the ground up. i dont know if you have won title or the world hunt i dont care about that stuff. what i do care about if you have 10 dogs in your yard and all 10 hunt thats what matters to me is the percentage of the dogman with his hounds. please PM so we could talk.

if you have any questions on anything just post them on this board.you will have all kinds of mentors some giving good advice & some giving bad advice you should be able to tell the difference.if you stick with it long enough you will meet people to help you along.

For some reason the dog box thing does work, I have met quite a few fellow hunters from my dog box. Go to some local clubs and hang out and try to spectate on a few casts. Just know the rules to spectating first. If you don't know ask!! Try to get your hands on a "Walk With Wick" book, it can teach you some of the basics. It's a better read than most of the junk on tv. If you can save enough money to get a young started dog do it, you don't have to spend thousands. I wish someone would have told me when I was starting out how much work and frustration went into pups. Coon huntin is hard work period, but if you love it, it don't seem like it all the time. Just remember all pups don't have what it takes, there will not be a coon in every single tree! Have fun, be safe and good luck.
