Queston about frozen semen

I was wondering if frozen semen is something that can be purchased and then you can AI it yourself or do you have to take it to a vet and have it put in. And if you can do it at home how hard is it to do and how successful is it to do yourself?

Probably not successful at home.

You have to know how to thaw it. Really you have to know
a lot. Not just any vet either, do your homework.
Dean bitzell at nevergone in Wabash Indiana has it figured out.

You can use fresh chilled semen at home with a pretty reasonable success rate. As long as the stud you are using is still alive fresh chilled semen should be a feasible option. Just remeber that a lot more timing will be involved. Also the stud owner will probably expect a higher fee because he will have to make a trip to his vet and get the dog collected which means more cost and inconvenience on his end.
