I hunt a Yadkin river female named Ms. Candy. Very very good hound, nothing bad I can say at all about her. I'll let you know more later, I'm off to work. Good luck with your pup. Is he out of Geoff?

my friend up in new york had a female off tar rattle shaker. she was one good hound. he was a pleasure hunter so never competition hunted her. I have a female that is half walker half bluetick. don't know the bluetick lines but on the walker side she is a grandaughter to tar rattle shaker and a great grandaughter to house's lipper. patches was a great coon dog until she decided she liked the bigger game better. had to retire her about 3yrs ago. she got so she'd drop a hot coon trail to go after a bear. not fun to look up and see an angry bear in the tree with only a 22

your pup should be a good one, geoff throws really good pups. Ms Candy just turned three and is the best coondog iv seen so far. she is really cold nosed and can flat out move a bad track. she is also a great lay up dog, with good looks and a nice temperament. yadkin dogs are really good swimers and very smart. your pup should work out really good for you, some geoff pups start treeing around five months. check out petes yadkin river site, theres a few pics of ms candy on the pup page.
best of luck!
Marcel

Yadkin river dogs

I have hunted Yadkin river dogs for over 15 years. The female I have now is a grand pup to Yadkin River Champ. In the past two weeks I have seen 18 coons with her. Most of your yadkin river dogs are good track dogs and honest tree dogs.

Yadkin River

Thanks everyone i really appreciate the input on these dog's! Want to know more about these great dogs you can
Go to pete's yadkin river coonhounds it's a great site and it gives alot of good info on how the Yadkin River line started.
I cried when i read the Gordon Gilroy page (could not help it) it kinda hit home when i read the (just a dog) it took me back to when i was 10 years old, in the woods with my dad and hearing an old bluetick named NICK (rip) bawling on a track, holdin my breathe so i could hear him better LOL. It was coldddd alot of the nites we went but i didn't mind. like i say LET EM' RUNNNNN

yadkin river dogs. ill tell you a little story.
in 2004 i met a man named jack dobson, he had this 10 month old pup named blossom, i liked the lil female and jack told me before i could buy her i had to go hunting with her... i did , and that is when i got HOOKED on the yadkin river bloodline. me and that dog went everywhere, we went out of town to hunt and she stayed IN the motel room with me. when she was 2 we bred her and i kept a pup named her rose ( because a rose starts as a blossom) well in the mean time i got one named bee bee. well blossom passed away march of 2010, and i felt like my heart had been removed from my chest. rose is 1 win from grntch, and bee bee is a grntch. yadkin river is what i will always hunt, they are great track and tree dogs . but more than that, this bloodline has something else...... they will go above and beyond to please thier owned, especially if they are treated like more than just an ol dog... mike

grntch ch 'pr' soggy bottom bee bee---- yadkin river bug X tarheel nitro

dual grand 'pr' yadkin river blossom ---- yadkin river blaster X yadkin river lacy

nitech 'pr' yadkin river rose ---- yadkin river blossom X sackets tuff company rocket

Yadkin River

Another story... I moved to yadkin County in 74. At the time I was hunting english dogs. Several local guys were hunting Yadkin River dogs, namely sons and daughter of old Yadkin River Tom. These guys would raise a litter of pups and sale and give away all but one and within a year they would have a bona fide coondog with the pup. I had to try it and I did with remarkable success. My first mating every pup in the litter made coondogs. Pups from solid LITTERS bred back to the same blood that came out of solid litters made things easy. I got the reputation as a pup trainer when all I did was keep them in the woods.
Dogs from here have won the Lee Crawford, the Grand American( even if John Wick told me personally that there was no prestige in it) won nt. ch. at Southeastern, and placed numerous times, placed at Walker days, High scoring dog at N.C. state and several hunted in the U.K.C. world and although they didn't win they made a respectable showing.
Even though I don't care for competition any more I still make a mating every once in a while and they still make coondogs.
Jack Dobson

My Yadkin river ms candy is from a half brother half sister cross. She has really good traits doubled up. I'll bread her back to another one of Petes hounds and probably keep the whole litter. Think I will allways stick with this line. If its not broke don't fix it! She's my best buddy, rides up front with me, and sleeps in my bed after a long night. Very smart dogs. I love um.

I totally agree with you guys! If it aint broke don't fix it! I like what i'm hearing about this line and i'm looking forward to what's ahead of me with this pup. I don't care if it never makes a world grand champion just want a good coon dog.
I'm going to bring his training along slow and enjoy him. I had the priveledge to speak with Mr. Barber and i thank him for keeping the Yadkin River Line going, i hope more people get a chance to experience one of these great dogs! just my opinion
Thank you to everyone who's bred, raised and trained some fine yadkin river hounds.

Thanks Zach it's good to hear how well these Yadkin River Dogs hunt! The more i hear the better it makes me feel about training this pup i have and seeing where he goes. You never know what kind of dog you got till you put forth the time and effort and keep em in the woods! I also know that not every pup makes a good coon dog, but i'm going to give it a good shot.I'm going to Hunt the heck out of him when he gets ready and see what he does!
