This is a topic that gets a lot of discussion on here. People that say coon hunting will run their deer off basically don't have a clue. I understand why they think it would but I could fill page one of your post with stories of deer that came in to see what was going on and didn't run off, deer that were bedded down within 50 yards of the tree and never left while I shot the coon out, walking through a herd of deer feeding on acorns to get my dog, bucks that picked their heads up to look at me and went back to feeding, etc. Occasionally deer run off but they don't go far and will be right back minutes after you leave. They act like a completely different animal in the dark.
I hunt a large cattle ranch not far from my house. The first year the ranch manager didn't want me to hunt after Oct. 1st but changed his mind after he started hunting with me and saw how the deer didn't react to dogs that weren't chasing them.
