Does anybody make a good WATERPROOF chap anymore?!?!

Sense Wick has went outta business I have been through about ever brand of chaps out there and I haven't found a pair of chaps yet that will last more than 3-6mths before they are NO LONGER waterproof or even water resident for that matter... Can someone please explain to me why only ONE company figured out how to make a good chap?!

Brandon,

I used to have the same problem with Wickes, but if you will give any chap a spray with a waterproofing spray about once a month that should cover your problem.

I keep a can ready all the time. It works like a charm.

Think about it, nylon is a cloth unless it is rubberized on a side it will leak.

there is no chap that is completely water proof exactly...{unless rubberized and not been thru briars} As long as your walkin short distances thru water no problem. but standing in deep water or walking thru deep water very much of a distance the pressure on them will eventually make them leak some what.....camp dry or and water proof spray now and then will help some what.....I used to work for a company who made them....

5 Star

Dan's 5 star chaps are the old Wicks material THEY TOLD ME. I got a pair out at AO this year and haven't been disappointed so far. I can tell a HUGE difference already with the lack of resistance walking through multifloral rose, and crossing barb wire fences. They don't catch to snag at all. I can't remember the last time I didn't have to cross water as low as everything is, and haven't gotten damp at all. I haven't been much over knee deep in in water yet either, but the other night I stood in the water for at least 10 minutes trying to get my dog out from under an uprooted tree and stayed bone dry. They ran me $125.00 on Muck boots.

I've had nothing but problems with the boots I bought from Koch. They've leaked from day 1. I called Koch and recieved rude treatment. Never again.

Don't ever call koch's with a problem. All you'll get is a tongue lashing. And never ask them for a donation to a youth hunt, my wife did one time, did she get told off.

I have the Valley Creek heavyweight chaps on the Muck Wetland boot for about a year and a half and they havnt leaked yet. Now I have worn a hole through the outer nylon layer on the insides of the chaps where I walk around with them down around my boots so much, but that's my own fault not the chaps, but the inner layer still keeps me dry in knee or thigh deep water with the holes.

Maybe I'm a little too much like hardcore, and I'm sure no tuff guy...but I just assume I am going to get wet before hunting in certain places. Deal with it and go on...keep an extra pair of boots handy.
I've yet to hunt around water...and not get wet.
if some can tell me how to stay dry and still do this...lead me on.

Frogleggs

My new Yoders are junk. I got the black "Heavy" ones cuz they were better......Not even close to the Wicks I still use. I now only use the Wicks for special nights. I dread the day I finally wear em out. Dad is disappointed in his "Dans" (it's now my job to get the dogs when they get in the water)...................Jon
