I used to hunt with a guy and his son would climb up the tree and piss in the den and slap the coon out to the dogs.

Billy

#1 its good to talk to ya and hope you are keepin things lined out in Woodlawn.#2 whether we hunt here at home or over at the ranch there always seems to be (certain) big post oak den trees that a hot race will end at.Just once I would like to chop a hole and see "if" the coon is in there. But, the biggest reason I feel we have several coon to tree is because of these den trees so I won't.To answer the question "yes" it usually ends up at one of the same dens depending on where we hunt.

HUH??
Did climbing trees make his son have to pee or something? I do not get it!

It is the same as building a fire to smoke a coon out of his den. I happened to remember it when this thread posted. You can also pee in a bottle and pour it down the hole if you can't stand above and angle a shot into the hole. Just a backwoods trick I had the priviledge of learning.

In several of our hunting spots we have had to Ambush a coon or two Who were Just too Smart for their Own Good !!!

One Boar Coon would run the Same 1/2-3/4 Track Everytime .. When He would leave the Den for the night his First Stop was a Huge Leaning Cotton that was broken off at about 25' ... This was his First Poop Station ..

He would then cross a fallen tree to a 6 ac Island and do some Feeding then to his second Poop Station which was a Croch of a Very Branch out tree about 4' up .. Then he would cross back off the Island on a Huge Fallen Tree " Which I sliped off of one Night and Broke thru the Ice in 5' of Water "

He was a Tough Coon and knew just what to do when he herd the first noise that was out of place !!!!

Smoke bombs don't work. Just a handfull of dry black spanish moss works real good. I have a young friend that is a piromaniac. Once he starts a smoke he can't quit till he gets a fire. That hollow must have had a woods rat nest in it cause the next thing you know that tree sounds like a blowtorch with six foot blue flames shooting out of about five holes. It was a pretty sight from across the river cause we got the heck away from there.
