I have seen young dogs that are confused- they can smell coon but don't instinctively know to tree- they will bark at the dog treed until they get it figured out. Make your decision based on whether there is actual aggression involved- does the dog seem to want to fight? or is it just excited but does not know what to bark at?

I have a dog that face barks and I think he does it because he is so jacked up and goes hard. I have hunted the dog with several dogs and never had a problem.

Just don't turn on the feller and go telling everyone his dog is a fighting fool that eats up ever dog on the wood. I had it happen to me.

Excitement, could be. We are at the tree already so tie the trained dog back 20 to 50 feet from the tree and the young dog will have to figure it out or get a boot for going 20 feet to facebark. He is already excited enough sounds like just hasn't figured it out yet and petting him on the tree by himself will just make him more fool in that case. Also if you decide to shoot the coon, release the trained dog and snap up the whipper snapper. They no longer get their mouth on it till they deserve it but no use not to shoot the coon out.

We didn't run no one off. The feller that is telling ever one my dog is an alligator NEVER saw the dog do anything but bark. I have since hunted with a lot better cooners and far better dogs and have not had a lick of trouble. Some guys buy a dog and think they know ever thing.

This same guy would kick his dog for not "getting gone" then turn around and kick his dog for not coming when called. Thankfully for me idiots and myself don't seem to keep each others company long.

I hunt by myself alot but it is not because mine are alligaters. I just part company real real quick with people that hunt and tolerate them. I thought this started as a thread that a young Knownothing pup was yapping because it wanted to yap like the trained dog. If it was the old dog face barking then I had it backwards and the old dog should never make it back out of the woods.
