Need Opinions . not there when cast is called

Went to a hunt and the cast were called out , it was myself and a guy i know and the other gentleman was not there they said he was coming and would be there soon . Well he made it there about 45minutes after deadline . What do you all think we should have done .

I think that if you are not there when the cast is called out you should be scratched . You can look at it this way , If the cast are called out at the sattelite clubs at the big hunts and you arent there you get scratched . I think this has more to do about the conditional entrys . Either way i believe it needs to be addressed by UKC about how much we should wait or if we should wait at all .

I was thinking UKC's position was that when the cast is ready to go to the woods, anyone not available to go to the woods is scratched.

i think it should depend on the club i know at my club if someone calls and tells us he will be late we'll wait on him. Its a courtesy thing we all hunt together and again each other week in and week out and we've ALL been running late for several reasons could break down could of just got off work could of got pulled over rushing to get there could of forgot something and had to go back home could of had a million things come up just like anyone of us could why be so hard on people when it could be us in the same situation, if we was we'd be on here cussing the people who wouldn't wait on us to go huntin

I think 45 minutes is too long to wait for someone to show up at a UKC licensed event. Might be OK at a local club hunt but not in this forum. I think 15-20 minutes after casts are called out is plenty long enough to extend any common courtesy to anybody wanting to hunt. Anybody that is not ready to hit the woods within 15-20 minutes after casts are called are just being rude to the rest of the hunters that are ready to go.

This is how UKC explained it to me. Actually what Todd said was any leeway was up to the Master of Hounds but he was not obligated to allow anytime. As soon as the cast is called you are subject to being scratched if you are not on the grounds.

UKC has addressed it. The Ruling is simple. A conditional entry must be paid up by deadline, and when casts are called to go to the woods, they must be ready to so. In smaller local hunts, a conditional entry might buy you another 15 minutes at most, provided the club has knowledgable folks there to draw casts.

In the case that you mention Tim, if I was MOH, and cast was held up for the time you say, and the judge came back to me and asks for advice, a 3 dog just became a 2 dog cast real quick.

I know things happen, But for the life of me, i can not understand how folks can't make deadline. Leave earlier. Thats the answer. I can have some sympathy on Friday night, but not on Saturday, and its Saturday that we deal with most. I hear hunters say all the time in PKC, i've got thirty minutes after deadline to show up. Yes, they have a leadway rule, but that 30 minutes is only good if the club wants to let you have it. I don't think UKC needs such a rule with only weekend hunts. Be on time, or be scratched/not allowed to enter. This conditional entry rule was put in place for the Paper/card not being there, and people who were on time, couldn't enter without them. I do not believe it was intended to give the always late guys a way to enter. OH YES! We all know that its normally the same ones who are late. Let them watching a cast go to the woods without thme and mysteriously they seem to be able to tell time if they want to hunt. JMO.

If it is a rule that you have to return by the deadline then you should have to be ready to go by the deadline JMO

exactly, i drove 85 miles and was there 35 minutes early. I have never been late for drawout deadline but i was 1min late to hunt deadline and took it as a lose and went on .

Rock , you know i think the same way you do . Thats scary

i was at a hunt last year and i had a buddy's entry card and my buddy told me to enter his dog that he was on his way. i did that and as soon as they heard that my buddy was'nt at the hunt they started questioning me. my buddy pulled in a couple minutes after they called the cast and they scratched him for not being there when the cast were drawn out.
