Truck question for Dakota owners?

Looking at a Dakota as a used truck and just wondered how many out there have them, if they like them, how the run and if they would get another. Thanks.

I have a buddy with one, a 91 model, 2wd. Runs like a charm, drinks gas just like a full size though.

I've got an 02, regular cab, 3.9 V6, 5 speed manual transmission, 4WD.

I've had a few things go wrong with it over the years but not much. Had to replace the CTU, which controls all the lights. Also have replaced a couple brake calipers and brake hoses. Water pump just went out at about 120,000.

Mileage wise it gets about 21 highway, 18 around here in the hills but that is after a K&N filter and a SuperChips tuner were installed. It got about 18 highway and 15 around here before. Not a ton of power for towing but it gets my boat to the lake and back.

I've got an '02 extended cab 4WDwith the 3.9 v6 that has over 160,000. It's an ok little truck.

Other than some O2 sensors, I've never really had any problems with it at all. Oh yeah, the a circuit board for fan blower for the heater defroster goes out about once a year. But it's a $10 part and a 5 minute fix.

But I won't ever buy another, full size get the same mileage, about 15mpg just bumming around, and 18 mpg highway if I'm lucky.

Automatic transmissions are the bad ones. The manual transmissions are pretty good.

Driving a 2011 Dakota 4X4 Quad Cab with the Magnum V8. It runs and drives great. However, just put a 100,000 on a Tacoma Quad Cab with a V6 and the Dodge is not near the truck in my opinion.

The best way I can describe it is it feels like I have to keep pressing the accelerator to maintain 70-75 on the interstate and the Toyata you have to keep backing out of it to stay under 80!

The Dodge doesn't get as good gas mileage either.

Like I said in the beginning, it does run and drive good I just got spoiled in the Tacoma. It ran as strong and tight at 100,000 as it did when it was new.

I have an 06 Dakota SLT Quad Cab 4X4 4.7 V8, and I have had nothing but trouble, rear end went out with 37000 miles, something is wrong with the engine now sounds like lifters ticking badly, right now also it is in the shop with sway bar arm problems, Not sure whats wrong there ???? I will never own another, JMO

Before that I owned a 06 Dodge Ram Big Horn with the Hemi, and that was the best truck I ever owned, made a big mistake trading down to the Dakota.

Milage im lucky to average 12 to 14 mpg and maybe 16 on the highway

Corky--- I had the same thing happen to me rubber plug came out of the rear end and all the grease came out too,

I have a 2000 extended cab with the 4.7 V8 and the automatic. I put a set of head gaskets in it last summer but other than that not much. It is all stock.

It gets about 18 in the summer and 15 in the winter for some reason.

I also need to mention that has just over 312,000 miles on it and no rust...and considering that I live in Illinois, that is an accomplishment in and of itself.

If you are looking at one that has the 3.7l v6 engine don't waist your time. I have a 05 mileage sucks and has no power.
