I was working at the Wyoming Michigan Post Office, sorting mail. I happened to be listening to news radio when they announced the first one. I told all my co- workers and we wheeled in a bigger radio. As we sorted and cased mail, I still to this day have never heard a group of carriers so quiet as they sorted mail. It was one of the longest days of my life. Every school in Grand Rapids was closed that morning, and I remember fighting the urge to go pick up my wife and kids, just to keep them close. The only other memory that I have that is more sobering that that one is when those kooks in OKC bombed the Federal Building....
I'd love to thank personally if there was a way, all involved with the heroic rescues that day. Those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of someone else. But the one thing that most of us forget, or maybe just overlook, are those civilians who were at work, doing their jobs, providing for their families, who were plucked from this life. A nation will never be the same.
I only wish that every person here would realize, that we too can be plucked from this life at any time.
Today is the day of Salvation. No man is promised another day, another minute, another breath. Jesus Christ is the savior, the Son of God, sent to the cross to pay a debt he did not owe, for sins that he did not commit. He did it for all of us, Me, you, and those in your family. Trust Him today. Repent. Be Born Again.
Amen.
