record keeping???????????

How many of yall ever keep hunting records ? Keep track of what happens when and under what conditions and stuff like that ? An old friend of mine talked me into doing this about a year or so ago and I started keeping records for a little over a year. How far dog goes to strike. How far to tree. What kind of track, wind, moon, temp , everything like that. I realize I have a bad memory and keeping records like this helps me understand some things and learn some things. I have discovered that my dog's two biggest tracking problems come from lots of pollen in the air and extremely high humidity. As far as coons moving or staying denned up I have come to find out that a bad, bad combination is a full moon combined with high wind. Very, very, very few nights that were a windy , full moon night did we do very good. Usually got the dog off a den tree a mile or more away from where we turned loose. Any of yall kept track of this stuff or noticed this stuff ?

Jason i've been keeping the same kind of thing you desribed for some 6-7 years. It helps on keeping track of progress being made etc. Also helps in keepingb track of where the coons are. Biggest thing i like about it? I can go back and look what i had, vs. what i got now. lol

I did it for a couple years a while back. One of the things that surprised me was the number of coons I treed in places that aren't considered good areas to hunt by many of the local hunters.

Records

I started keeping a log on accuracy. I started it onMay 17 2011. Its the first time I have done this. I'm only keeping it on 1 dog right now. I am planning on keeping for 1 year from the date I started. I write down every tree made and only put a coon where we found one. I am counting dens and circles a slick.
so far it looks like this. May 17: 1 tree 1 coon, May 21: 1 tree 1 coon, May 23 2 tree 2 coon, June 1: 1 tree 1 coon, June 22: 1 tree 0 coon, June 26: 2 tree 2 coon, July 3: 1 tree 0 coon, July 21: 1 tree 0 coon, Aug 13: 2 tree 2 coon.
I don't hunt this dog a whole lot and he still manages to tree a coon. He qualified for the zones Saturday night so I guess I better get him hunted up.
