best thing to do is just come out to a hunt, we will have several around where u live within 30 minutes this fall, just come on out and check it out. Let some of us know when ur coming and introduce yourself. Around here we have some good ppl and good clubs, i think you will like it

lol, thats like the summary of a story of me and a buddy, we were eating breakfast ready to hunt when a big shot field trialer asked us ....what you got" ? we said old just a few rabbit dogs for huntin, He said what "YARD SHITTERS "? we said i dont know theyr just rabbit dogs....we shoot rabbits withem, He said yea thems yard shitters , any way when it was said and done it was a competition and by the end of the day he respected our " yard shitters" because he wanted to buyem, funny thing is i dont think them dogs would of hunted for him anyway them dogs ran to make us happy his dogs couldnt touchem, we had some dogs outta big bad cliff and one had been shot, hit by a car and still rolled.

Not all field trialers are bad. I don't field trial but have meet a lot of GREAT people that do. Just like anything else in life you will have a few ****** in every bunch.

some ppl have problems at trials every time they go.....at that point you gotta ask yourself what is the common denominator. you will be fine, and im sure so will your dogs, its a hunting format and u got hunting dogs!!

Jboord,

you will see alot of guys that i have not seen at but 1 or 2 hunts in years try to discourage you , just go try it out there is lots of hunts coming up in our state close to u, just go to the UKC home page and look under upcoming events, and scroll down to WV. UKC is an enjoyable format !

Don't get scared away, if your not sure about the rules for hound and hunter check out the PP hunts, the NBPPA sectionals are well run and have lots of good judges and hunters that will explain to you what is happening.
Everybody was a beginner at one time, come on out and try it.
