Fox Hunting Without Dogs?

I have a Landowner that needs me to get rid of some foxes. They are coming into a field every evening. 100 yard shot. Will a 243 be a good cal. for this?

That should get the job done. .17HMR would probably be just as good a choice.

Fox aren't big at all...easy to miss as they are mostly fur...22 mag on up will work as long as you can hit em...I've skinned some well furred winter PA reds and was shocked at how small they are...really tiny bodies...you got a few inches of target tops....

Make sure its legal as fox are considered fur bearing critters in most states...

If they don't come out on their own you can also call them in...not sure how effective calls are in the summer time...but winter when they are hungry they respond pretty well...

A .243 will be over kill, but they will be dead.

I can use my 22 mag, I didn't know if that would be large enough.

Another way...

If you can get hidden near where they will be and put out something for bait, you should shoot a shotgun with a full choke. You kill more of them if the shooting gets fast and furious. #4 or larger shot should knock them down for good.

Kill them all and others will be calling for your services.

243 is a great gun for that shot. 22 mag, i love. if you can find a mag, good one. or, and 8mm is good a 6 mm would be a great gun also. real close to a 243. i got a few up here, they thinned out though. i have a problem WITH A SKUNK. guess where i am hunting at 4 am???? 22 long and this sucker will be gone. sniper time.

Thanks everyone just got in from checking it out set up about 200 yards away and was just looking with the scope. There are 2 sets a pair of big reds with 4 small ones. Getting ready to leave and a huge gray and 2 pups came out. I can set up about alot closer then what he told me about 50 yards. I will keep yall updated.
