Friend of mine has a real nice strike dog white gyp out of cur and hound cross. His grandpa told him to pick the white pup out of the litter, that it would be a throwback to the hard hunting birddogs and walkers that were mixed in the line. Any one ever heard any old timers talk of this. Its the first time I've heard of it.

Ive heard the same thing about ticked up walkers there usually grittier, ive always picked the whitest out of the litter with great success.

Friend of mine has a real nice white gyp, hound cur cross that is a top strike dog on hogs, real fast, gritty, another friend of mine has a white mostly catahoula gyp that is also a top strike dog on hogs, I've noticed most of my pups out of walker and cur crosses that are mostly white seem to be the best hunters. Didn't know if there was anything to this or not but it seems like the oldtimers might have a little secret here that works.

I've got a friend with an all white mostly catahoula, another friend with a mostly white cur hound cross, my walker cur crosses the mostly white pups are the most popular, we all know the birddog has that natural drive to hunt, I believe it is possible these pups are throwbacks to those dogs. I've had a lot of people say the white dogs are prone to deafness and blindness but in all my years I've never seen one and I've never had any buddies had any with problems. For you guys hunting with white dogs have you ever had bad problems with deafness and blindness?
