Thats only half a mile. Been many nights I have had a dog work a track that far before they get treed. Just cause its Iowa, dont make it any different!! Or if you aint got much, like me, maybe they are doing something they shouldnt and you are that far before you catch them!!
Buy a LED cap light, burn time is excellent and wont blow bulbs. Only way to go in my opinion..

I have had a smart light, LEMS light, East fork competition light, and Nocturnal addict. In my opinion the smart light and lems lights are not bright enough but I have not seen the new LEMS lights.I do like the hard battery pack that LEMS lights uses though. The east fork competition cap light I liked but just needed to be a shade brighter to see the tops of them bigger trees better. But the head is smaller and dont know if you can find pop covers. They have upgraded now so maybe that is solved. All these are single LED lights. The Nocturnal addict is what I am using now. It has 3 leds and a 5100 pop cover fits this head. I havent had much luck with coon looking at the led light without a cover. I prefer the amber. Also, the addicts battery pack is about twice as thick and heavy as the others. About the size of 2 cigarette packs on the back of the cap. It is plenty bright and has a high, low and strobe. I dont recall the exact burn times but I am thinking like 15 hours low, 6 on high. The down fall on this light, in my opinion, is when you shut it off, then turn it on again it goes to the next setting. Therefore you are running thru the settings everytime you turn it on and off. but overall a good light. Also, the addict runs $250 as the others run around $150. I have heard good things about Bright eyes cap light and k lights also, but have heard that k lights g2 omits a noise that will interfer with garmin so that is why I never bought it. These are all on the higher side of the market price also.

My grandson and I useLEMs lights. More than sufficient light to tree a coon. There may be brighter lights out there, but who needs that much light? Good hunting to you.

I may not be able to. Pax has a ball tournament that'll last till 8:00 today and there's a good chance of thunderstorms tonite. I wouldn't want you to drive that far on a Sunday night when i can only go till 11:00ish.

Todd, buy a new Blazer with 5 LED head. If Cub can afford one, you surely can!!! Light and bright, won't need charged for couple weeks at a time. Also, just buy a bluetick because you won't have to leave the truck to look at a tree until daylight anyway. Take care, Ron.

Hey Jay I am just trying to give everyone around here a chance. I have never in my life or buddy life had him in shape. You did see a 10 month old pup out of him split and have the coon, didn't you. The one time he was close to being in shape I beat monkey (Bluetick winner) (Dolly finals of a world hunt) (Agile 9th place world hunt 2010) If Wilburg Miller hunts this dog in 2011 hunt I would not bet against him in thick coon. I have to go and qualify Agile now. Come hunting anytime. Always welcome. Oh yes BUDDY is QUALIFIED. He isn't even in shape.

Buddy

Bring him to Elizabeth and Brooklyn's RQE while Todd and Agile "try" to get qualified and we'll go pleasure hunting!
