Bear Hunters: WRC Big Game Committee to talk about bear hunting on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 10:00 am in the WRC Auditorium

The Big Game Committee of the Wildlife Resources Commission will meet at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 6, 2011. THIS IS A SPECIAL BEAR MEETING!

The WRC has done a lot of work in advance of this meeting. They have put on their website what they want to do in their new ten year plan for bear hunting. You can review their draft “Bear Management Plan 2011-2021” by clicking on the following link:

There are ten (10) draft appendices to be reviewed. Some are more important drafts than others. One of the most important items is Appendix C, “An Evaluation and Recommendation of Current Status of Bear Harvest Statistics” and may be reviewed at the following link:

If you cannot attend the meeting tomorrow, PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION. Be ready to write or call in response to their ideas. They want to require bear hunters to submit much more reporting, among other things.

Bear Hunters, protect your rights! Attend or send representatives to this significant meeting.

Representatives of the NC Bear Hunters Association will be there in force. Joe and Henri McClees will be there on behalf of the NC Sporting Dog Association. We need bear hunters from the east and the west to oppose any loss of bear hunting opportunities.

We will send out more information after this meeting, but it is important that you take the time to review what the WRC wants to require of bear hunters as well as what they want to do with bear seasons for dog hunters.
