Just a summer box I slapped together in a lil over an hour from some scrap lumber and horse panels left over from building my kennels. Nothing fancy at all but I like it ok, heavier than my diamond box and that stinks but I have a stand that I back up to for loading and unloading it by myself.

I like that summer box. Looks pretty simple to make. And looks pretty good too.

If I were to ballpark it I would say somewhere around 130-140#. The biggest thing is that I brainfarted in my measurement cause I got it from the dimensions of my diamond plate box and had it all put together and loaded it onto my truck when I thought man this dude is way too tall. Well duh, I measured the entire front of the box top to bottom, storage included. If I were going out and buying the lumber I wouldnt use 3/4 plywood, its just some I had in the way and found a way to get rid of it and still get some use from it also. What panels I used on it were all that was left from building my kennels and I saw no other use for it. Had about a 4' section of a single square run left after box was done so I didnt care about throwing it away. If I were to ever have to buy the stuff to build another I would probably go with 1/4-3/8 plywood and would still opt for the panels cause even when the wood is long gone the panels could be reused. I would frame it all with 2x2s instead of 2x4s and I wouldnt even bother putting a floor in it. If you cut some 45s about 6" from corner bracing front to side and back to side it aint going to twist up on you and hopefully I would remember to make it the 4" shorter like it should have been to begin with.

Oh, forgot that not putting a floor in it would be for a summer use box only for me, I use a unique box during colder weather. If I were to use it year round I would pur a floor in it and you could either have some plywood or sheet metal/roofing metal cut to size to attach over the panels for cold weather use i suppose.

Ive seen them made out of just about everything around here. Plywood slapped together with all the cuts being done with a chainsaw to them sanded down and painted up and looking pretty dang sharp. Have seen the made with 55 gallon plastic drums in singles with 2x4 screwed to bottom so they dont roll around and seen them with 2 barrels bolted together. My step grandfather had a box he made for his beagles out of a large window air conditioner case. Lightning ran in and fried the unit, sold the guts for scrap and bought the plywood for the bottom and front. Already had the vents on the side. we had as many as 6 beagles in it and they had plenty of room. Seen them made from expanded metal and angle iron and know a feller that built a bed cover for his truck that instead of it sitting flush on the bedrails it is raised a couple inches for air circulation and they have basically the whole bed for room. Its all in the imagination of the builder of what they can come up with.
