registering question

is a registered gascon eligible to compete in night hunts or would it have to be single registered as a bluetick

You need to be more specific. While there is no Gascon, there are several breeds with Gascon or Gascogne in the name listed in the Scenthound Group. For example:

BASSET BLEU DE GASCOGNE

GRAND BLEU DE GASCOGNE

GRAND GASCON-SAINTONGEOIS

GRIFFON BLEU DE GASCOGNE

PETIT BLEU DE GASCOGNE

PETIT GASCON-SAINTONGEOIS

Sandy's correct. And you asked about registering the dog as a Bluetick Coonhound...Are the parents Bluetick Coonhounds?

No the Grand Blu's are not Allowed .. I would sure like to see some of the Rare Breeds Allowed tho !! It just seems like their just to be Statues in the US and not highly fuctional Hunting Hounds that they are ..

Owner of a Female Grand Blu and a Grand Gascon Saintongeois ..

I'm seeing Alot of hunt drive in these hounds

A maybe this is what you where referring to ?

America Blue Gascon Hound

http://www.abgha.org/

Gascons are Bluetick hounds they are bred to a bit larger size than a standard Bluetick. They are UKC registered and can compete in trails.
Standard bred in front, Gascon in back

Well Its not Just Poking around hunting for a Scent or Stright Lining out till they cross a scent ..

Its more of a "Frantic Motion" to find scent in Large Sweeping archs or Quick Zig Zags (Very Sim. Motion to a Very Good Bird Dog) .. Then once the Scent is detected They Show a good burst of Drive on the Track but mostly Nose down but still a Quick Pace ..

It is hard to discribe .. But Once you See it During the Day light its abit easier to discribe it.. I actuly like the way they work, its better for small wood plots but I don't think they'l stand up to many Coonhounds so we'l see how the Crosses work out..
