How/where do you get it? How does it work? We have been given the opportunity to haul and hunt a nice hound that belongs to someone else at redbone days but he wants the hound insured just in case something happens to him. Can anyone tell me how this works?

you can search pet insurance. it varies from each company. some offer insurance if pet is killed or dies. have to look at the fine print.
