hunt them hard or set them up?

When preparing for a hunt do you set them up or hunt them hard? im asking because ive took my dogs to hunts after being set up for 2 or three weeks and they looked good and other times ive hunted the tar out of them and when the hunt comes they are worn out and look like idiots? but ive had visa versa as well so wht do you do?

I hunt em for pleasure and to keep them in shape. That way if I decide to hit a hunt. They should be ready.

I hunt my hyper dogs down because it makes them due better most of the time. Now the lazier type of dogs I set them up so they can get rested up. Some dogs it doesn't matter what you do they will act the same way.

Gotta know the dog your running....the female I hunt shines if I hunt her hard...but also shines if she's laid up a while....if I hunt her regularly, she seems to not be as fired up or fast...but if I hunt her hard she's on fire...weird...

My buddy told me he'd fly me home to take her to the zones and hopefully world hunt...but, that's farmin season and he'll be busy....I ain't flying home and taking that much time off work to hunt a dog that's been laid up long...

I learned a happy medium for her is run her once or twice early in the week..mon or tues...and take her to the hunt fri or sat...or, hunt the tar outta her...she never got ragged or run down that fall I hunted her hard....Sunday was her only nite off....she just seemed to love it and be on fire...we had a nice win streak...
