I feed Diamond Naturals chicken and rice, it's a great feed, 3 cups a day, dog looks great, muscled up maintains perfect weight, minimal cleanup, dogs love it. I hunt about 3 nights a week, If I hunted more I would probably feed the Naturals Extreme Athlete.

That is sort of a loaded question. Since Diamond came out with the naturals line you have to be a little more specific when you ask if someone is feeding Diamond. There is no comparison in the quality of Diamond Naturals and the the other Diamond formulas.
I feed Diamond Naturals Lamb and Rice and can say that I have never been more pleased with a feed. It may cost a little more than some of the other feeds, but when you consider that you feed less of it, it is probably cheaper in the long run.
You can check out almost any feed on http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/

Diamond

I have fed the diamond "high energy" food for most of the winter and the dogs did well as long as they didnt get fed too much. Seemed that if they got a bit too much, they would get a loose stool in a hurry. Recently I decided to try the (extreme athlete) on one hound just to compare the two......I do agree that there is really no comparing the high $$ diamond with the regular.....I have never been one to feed the cheapest dog blends or spend all of my paycheck on the big money feeds, but it is easy to see that the higher end Diamond runs circles around any $20-25 dog food. I paid $32 a bag for a 40 of the Extreme athlete.

I swore I would never feed Diamond, but my dogs have been on Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete since a little before the new year, and I've had good results. I'll buy this or the TSC brand 4Health before I go back to Purina.

I'm not saying high dollar blends are not better. I have been feeding yellow bag Diamond Maintenance year yound for twenty odd years. Four cups a day on average sometimes more sometime less. If I could find an "all-natural" ,certified organic, produces no methane, save the planet, and whatever else code words that blows your frock up that one cup per day supplied 100% of their needs, I would feel like I needed to throw in a bale of hay for a filler. The dog would still think you are starving him to death without a filler. How would you like to be penned up and only get one cup for your belly?LOL If my dogs didn't do good on Maintenance, I would change to something else. I'm still strong enough to tote a fifty pound bag just about as easy as a 40 pound bag. Maybe when I get older I'll change my mind.

It was about ten years ago. A load of aflatoxin corn slipped though the screening. I was feeding Maintenance formula at the time. Maybe the high dollar blend is the one that got that run. The only dog I heard of in this county that died was a $5,000.00 coondog, yea right. And Diamond made good for the dog.

lyle, it was about 5 years ago. I know, I lost the best coondog I've ever had to it. And Diamond did not make right on it!

I believe because of what happened then is why the came out w/ the natural line. been feeding EA for a little over 2 mo. now and like it.I have 3 hounds here feed each one 3 cups a day,40# bag last me 18 days. I have a hard keeper,I have been adding a half cup of dried rice(boiled turns into about a cup an a half). He looks better than he ever has.he is full of energy, hunts for 6 hours with no problem.

They already had the Natural line before the Aflatoxin issue. Lamb Meal & Rice, Chickin & Rice, Beef Meal & Rice, and etc...

I would say after the Aflatoxin issue, they promoted and advertised the Natural line harder than before it happened. The emphasis was put on the Natural line and expnaded on what they already had.

Rice is as subject to aflatoxin as corn. Heat and humidity and ceral grain. Somebody was asleep at the wheel at the unloading dock a day or two in the fall of 2006. Simple as that.

I fed High Energy for a while and have no complaints except the stool issue you brought up, any extra little bit and my kennel looked like a cow pasture! Since feeding Naturals I only clean up a couple hard turds per day.

Meat meal is a good ingredient. Better than meat. It doesn't have near the moisture content, so it contains more protein.

Nothing is added to meal to make it contain more protein. It contains the same amount as meat, it is just in a greater volume due to removing the moisture. I think thats what you were trying to say.
