DIamond Dog Food

Is anyone having a problem with Diamond Dog Food? I have 6 hounds at the house and none are eating. I have wormed them and all seem to be healthy, but will not eat. As a matter of fact the last 2 days they have knocked their bowls over after eating their vitamin. They have plenty of fresh water everyday and do not seem to be consuming more than usuall. I just started a new bag 4 days ago and thats about when it started.

Any Ideas?

Hi Mike, Sometimes I think our hounds are trying to tell us something when they act like this. All I can tell you is to try a different kind of food. Maybe this diamond food has something they just can't deal with anymore or it could be it's making them sick to there stomach. Maybe the vitamins you are giving them are to much for them. I would go back to a basic diet for them, get a different food and stop with the vitamins for now. Get them eating again. Maybe it would be a good idea to take one of them to the vet to be tested. Well hope things get better for you and your hound doggies. keep us up to date how they are coming along.

I am not having any problems with mine, they can't seem to get enough of it. Maybe you got a bad bag or batch of it. Maybe try a new bag.

In 2005, I fed three infected bags of diamond to my hounds.. The result was the death of duel FC, The Woofman Of Smokes Creek! I have nothing good to say about a company that does not monitor their process above and beyond what the law requires....

If you think different, ask NY states first GRHBCH... Oh thats right, Woof is dead! They change their recipe several times for cost saving purposes.. You guys are playing with fire! Listen to what your hounds are saying.. If your food tasted strange or made you feel sick, would you keep eating it???

My cousin fed it for awhile and had is HBCH male start getting sick and losing weight. He took him to the vet and the vet asked him what kind of dog food. He told him Diamond and the vet told him that he was the 9th kennel to bring dogs in losing weight and not acting right, all of which were feeding Diamond. He has since switched dog foods.

Diamond has had a history of recalls for bad dog food . I would not deal with Diamond or any of the China pet food products.

The vet I use to work for had cases come in similar to yours and yes it was bad bags or drastic changes in the ingredients of the product, and unfortunately diamond food was one that we did deal with. Personally as well our kennel use to feed it years ago we encounter troubles with it as well and soon made the switch to black gold which we still enjoy feeding. Some of my other family and friends are raving about call of the wild dog food, very good but pricey.

I gave you props in a earlier part of the post!!! Lol thanks.
Thanks for all the ideas guys. I think I am just going to try what TJ uses. Here in Muhlenberg county KY we do not have a whole lot of choices. either that or see if I can buy a pallet of Black Gold and store it. We do have southern states here but had to buy a bag of that once a there was clumps in it as big as Rick G's ego. Lol.
Thanks everyone!

Purina

Well bought 2 Bags of Purina One, with the one bag being the Sensitive system formula for the dog that was lacking an appetite.
They pigged out! In the past I have rotated Purina, Exceed, and Diamond. Diamond will not be in the Rotation anymore!
I think I'm also gonna start supplimenting some Raw in too!

In My opinion ya Just Caint beat good ol Purina Puppy Chow we feed it to all our pups and moms till weaned then feed it to pups till 6 mo old before switching over.
we never increase moms feed until just before she welps then let her have what she wants they have all done great on the purina Pup chow.

Diamond and other products that hit the tainted feed list need to be sent a message . I'd rather give my hounds away than feed them this garbage . JMO

Buddy, Diamond was well aware of this in 05, and offered about $100 per dead dog. Wasnt that nice of them... Purina??? Dont know if you all know, but they market several different dog foods.. That is the same but goes into different brand bags.. And they have several different levels of qualities.. Best know your ingredients. Feed is like anything else here.. If you can read these boards, you can research a product and understand what your feeding.

And for those of us that have a dozen hounds, cost plays a role as well. If I had to pay $45 a bag, I could not afford to do it. There are some very good feeds out there for $25 a bag.... I feel that is a fair price.

Rick
