I just spoke with North Carolina Wildlife Enforcement officer....I am going to be visiting North Carolina on vacation and there happens to be an RQE hunt that weekend, so I was going to take my dog and try to qualify him while I was there. They advised me that I would have to buy a $40 hunting license.

At the Winter Classic, we were checked by Game Warden and he said we were ok to hunt as long as we had a license from our resident state.


Ya'll have any thoughts on this?

BUT WHAT THE NCWRC DOES IS GIVES US FIELD TRIAL AUTHORIZATIONS. NOW, WHAT WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TOLD IS AS LONG AS YOU HAVE ONE OF THOSE AUTHORIZATIONS AND YOU HAVE A CURRENT LISCENSE FROM YOUR HOME STATE THEN YOU ARE COVERED UNDER THE FIELD TRIAL PERMIT.

I WILL CHECK FOR 100% SURE AND WILL HAVE QUINCY CALL YOU AND LET YOU KNOW FOR SURE!

Adam,

The quotes buckshot shared are the proper answer. If the club hosting the RQE obtained a Field Trial permit from the NCWRC and tyou have a license from your home state you can hunt in the RQE. The permits are free of charge, and I have never known a club to not get them, but it might pay to verify by contacting the contact person for that club. The permit only covers a field trial, if you want to pleasure hunt the night before to tune your dog up you would need the non-resident liscense.

Muckafoonee, It was 2009 and I drew out and went to the Foulstown clubhouse, can't really tell you where we were, other than one truck stuck in the mud and the game warden came in on us... it was no problem at all...he had the guide show the permit from the clubhouse and got the truck unstuck and went right on hunting....


I really appreciate ya'lls help guys and (gal), I sure don't wanna get skint up 5 1/2 hours from home, but I sure do wanna try to qualify.

Christy, you tell Q I am gonna be looking forward to some coonhunting and mostly Mr. Gobble Gobble.
