20. Any person caught using any device used to control
or locate dog during hunting time, will be barred
indefinitely. GPS locating device may be turned in the
on position during hunting time but only if transmitter is
left in vehicle. Transmitters for electronic training collars
must be left in vehicle and may not be used by handler
or spectators until dog wearing device is scratched
and all other dogs are recovered for re-casting. (For
time out periods see rule 6(l). Lighted collars are not
considered to be a locating device and are allowed.

only thing i can find...

the way i read that is if the transmitter is ON it must be left in the truck...if its off, it can be carried...

personally i never really seen the need to carry the tracking receiver..but, were usually not far from the truck around here

This is an on going issue I personally could care less if you left it on the whole hunt actually I would like you to call your dog off of it cause you'd be sitting in the truck minuses out rather quickly. All kidding aside as long as the handheld is turn off you can carry it with you

GARMIN

It is my understanding you can carry it as long as it is off, and that way if you call timeout u dont have to walk clear back to the vehicle to get it to gather up dogs!!!!

That would be a fun hunt,to start with a question or a formal complaint before ya even went to the woods.lol Maybe Todd and Allen should print their cell numbers in Bloodlines for any questions after office hours. LOL

if anyone calls their dog by a garmin they are a fool. the only thing a garmin is good for is showing you if they are getting close to a road. other than that they are crap. got one and it stays at home most the time. looks like a bunch of kids out pleaure hunting holding some dang video game. jmo, maybe the marshall will be better

yep it does get boring if you have no one to chat with. most of the time someone will stay and shoot the bull for a little while though.

i was also at the hunt groundpounder is talking about, couple people were upset by the moh stating this. it doesent bother me though i don't have a garmin, still got my beep beep.

My garmin must operate different than yours. 9 times out of 10, the "bubba has treed quarry" message pops up within 10 seconds of his locate bark. But NO WAY would I ever have that thing on during the hunt. Even if it did work, thats cheating.

Josh you are right. But if you are going to put yourself in the position to run a hunt and be in charge (MOH) you should have a good knowledge of the rules. Besides that the rules are printed on the back of the card it isn't hard to look them up. I am a MOH and i feel it is part of my responsabilty to keep up on the rules to make it fair for everyone.

I can tell you 80% of the time when mine is fixin to strike something by looking at the garmin.. I dont see how we are supposed to use them to cheat..Could I strike mine if they aint barking yet? NO...Can I hear mine treed farther than the garmin can pick up? YES..Could I tree mine out of hearing by the garmin? Nope.. Everybody is always worried about getting cheated..I just dont see how a garmin helps do that..Its for safety and dog recovery..I think everybody should be able to leave it on..If they dont have a collar in the cast..I would loan them one..Let the judge connect to all 4 dogs and leave it on in the pouch while hunting..

Your garmin needs updated or reprogrammed or something i bet. Mine is like michaels, i can nearly just watch the garmin and tell you what the dog is doing. I can look at the garmin and tell you when he is fixin to tree! Lol

all i am saying is that the garmin is nice, i own one. but they are not a tool to help you win. to me they take alot of the fun out of listening for what your dog is doing and really learning your dog. that is all im saying. a guy that says his dog is treed just because the garmin says so needs to do some good ol timey coon hunting. garmin is not always right

lol when a buddy of mine first got his garmin the dogs would be 200 yards away, not barking and his garmin would come up and show them treed and he'd start walking in to them, then get mad at us for laughing
