He is about 4, I was going to use him in my breeding program, but he is super independent. I put a price on him, over on the comp hunt form, just wondering if I made a mistake. I never bear hunted him, only coon.

How many of you guys that big game hunt like alot of independance in a dog?

He sure is a looker, goes about 75-80lbs, super loud, and deep hunter. Just don't know how it will work with my other dogs as a cross. I have never breed him because he likes to work alone.

What you guys think, I like dogs that pack up good and work as a team. I am not a comp hunter, just a bear hunter.

Any ways his ped is below.

Independance...

now on independance...From what ive heard in the past from a guy...not a Problem!!!.Duane Smith a well known Bear Hunter From Vermont who is noted for his Fine line of plotts once wrote an article about a plott female in Full cry named Toni. She was an amazing Bear dog!.the one thing he hated about her was,She love to break off from the pack and go hunting and find a bear!!!.duane thinks the only reason she did that was before she was bear hunted she was a coondog and the guy strickly hunted her by herself.then a gentlemen if i recall named Dan Luke?ended up buying her.anyways...she was bred and she produced some excellent bear dogs!!!.Duane is a stand up guy and i had the pleasure of chatting with him a few years ago.so meaning his article is very right on.takecare theo

your independent dog

from the sounds of it u got A really nice hound!!.except for the fact he's stubborn when working with other dogs.i just hope u make the right decision if u sell him??? .im sure u know how hard it is these days to find a well balanced coondog!!.u may regret selling him??.i would Never Sell a Excellent Dog!!!!!!!!!!!period.if worse came to worse,as we know we have to make difficult decisions at times?i would give him to a friend or let him just run him!!!.my main dog i gave my friend last year is probably one of the better hounds here in new england.an excellent coondog in all departments!!.the only reason i gave him up was i have a young female coming along nice that i have to single out now.and my friend is only up the road from me.i could also see why he being so independent could upset some folks.we all know there is'nt a better sound then hearing hounds run a track together in the woods.goodluck on ur decision.takecare theo

Kardinal

I saw where you posted on the coon page and the guy from wv seems real interested. Wish i wouldve been here on my computer to see this instead of out with my young dog. Im very interested in this dog. He is what im looking for. want the ole country style to go hunting and have the coon. To many of the me too dogs out there. I am also a born and breed bear hunter but have started to coon hunt again to keep from going crazy when the bear aint moving. Im in the little river coon club in goshen and starting to hit the hunts and would like to get my hands on a good pleasure dog to push and hunt on my off time. need something to show my pup how to work an old track into a tree with the coon there. i would really like to you bout this dog cause I will the feet off him and he will still be close if you would ever need him. Live up next to deerfield and went to school with devin duncan and have hunted with kenny and justin more than a few times.
Thanks for your time,
William Berry
