Thank You Garmin!!!!
Took my 8 year old Grand Nite out this evening. First drop, Smoke struck a good track about 400 yards in. Pushed it real well about another 400 yards and shut up. I pulled my garmin out and it showed him on the main creek. I wait a few minutes and hear nothing. I double check the garmin. He's still in the same place. Since I raised this hound and spent many nights following him, I know that if he's not moving he's treed. In this case, there was no reason not to be able to hear him. Knowing this I began making my way toward him to investigate. Following the garmin and getting closer, I got within 30 yards of him and look in the direction my arrow is pointing. Smoke had ran a coon across a huge log that crossed the creek. Somehow he lost his footing and fell into the creek and through the ice. Only his head and two paws were above the ice. The rest of his body was submerged in the frigid water. Quickly I scurried out on the log and pulled him up on the log with me. He was unable to walk, so I wrapped my hunting coat around him to warm him up. After a few minutes of drying him off, I made him walk to get the blood back to flowing. Thanks to garmin, I recovered my valuable hound before hypothermia would have caused him to most likely drown. Five more minutes and I believe he would have been a gonner. Luckily he's recovering in the warmth of his dog house.
THANKS GARMIN!!!!!!!!
