hound problem

got a male here that is a COONDOG but he has a fault! when he was around 8 months old he got jumped by 2 diferent males, so now when ever he has a new male in the bunch, line them up no problem cut lose and with 75 feet he will jump on the new male, now if you can somehow cut hem where he doesn't see the new male he will go hunting and tree with the male with out a problem, and you never have a problem again, but bring a new male and will happen again till he makes a drop with it, like l said a coondog any ideas how to fix it?he could almost win any cast u put him in but l will be wrote up in the first 75 feet if there is a male he has not hunted with in the cast.

maybe line up some new males and an e/collar and go to town and let him no you will not tolerate this behavior at all. its a shame because it doesnt sound like the dogs fault. we have hguys around here that hunt rough dogs and would laugh if they ruined someones nice young hound and trust me it burns me good that a fellow hunter would have no more respect a person or even a youth hunter to bring dogs like this just to try to say theyy won something that doesnt mean a hill of beans anyway. good luck in fixing this problem but for comp. hunting he is no good the way he is. good luck again keep us posted

I think the e collar applied once the fight started would only intensify the fight. He does however need to understand that YOU will not tolerate aggression of anykind. I would work around the yard before a hunt starts first then progress to the woods. He needs to know that you are the Alpha male and all fights are started and stopped by you and only you.

jmo, i would take him to a beginner obedience class where you have control at all times and he has to deal with other dogs on a regular basis. just be sure to tell the instructor what you have before hand.

justin, shocking the living heck out of him is not gonna get the alpha male out of him. read some more, or, maybe, train some more dogs.
human has alpha. no differences there, that is if you want control. if you want to own even a pekingese, this must be.

get it???????

well l quit hunting him with strange males for over a year. l hunted him with a male he hasn't seen in a year and no problems, but l know if l tried a new male specially if it is a blue tick there will be both times l had a problem he jumped a blue dog. and when l caught him doing it l woop him and l could take and walk to gether 2mins after the wooping, but would you give a male to see what would happen l bet naught so it is hard to fix!

This is why you dont run young dogs with others until they're matured and can handle some presure.

I believe i would choose the people i hunt with a little better. i refuse to hunt with somebody that has an ill dog..... But that dosnt help your current problem any..... i still vote Boot Leather. You zap him with a e-collar and he might think the other dog did it and just make it that much worse...... with good old boot leather he Knows it was you and that he is doin wrong, now im not sayin break his ribs or nothin but a swifk kick in the @$$ is a real good attention getter.......
