Well if they get lost because they don't know how to use the compass is that a problem with the compass or the user?
Same thing for the Garmins. 99% of the "problems" they have are operator error.
Sometimes it's not, but the great majority of the time it is. Maybe somebody is trying to track 3 miles with the handheld instead of using it properly and using the roof mount. Maybe somebody forgot to turn it on, or didn't know how to calibrate the compass, or didn't understand to use the map feature instead of the compass when in close. None of those things are the fault of the equipment.
No different than someone that doesn't know how to line a compass up on a map, or know how to take proper bearings with it.
By far the great majority of people DO NOT have problems with the Garmins.
