I had a gyp with one that looked identical to that, i took a 16 gauge needle and drained some of the puss off of it then put ichthamol ( drawing salve ) on it and the next day it was down to nothing......some are not comfortable doing this so if not then get him to a vet, i own a couple coonhounds and about 25 fox and yote hounds so i had to become my own vet but good luck hope all works out well.

We had to do this with a female as well. He may have gotten bit by something that is causing it. antibiotics and draining it worked for us.

I had two littermate pups get lumps like this on either side of their rumps. Took one to the vet...she aspirated it and was only able to draw out blood. Her diagnosis was something like a hematoma, sort of a bruise right over that bone. Didn't give me anything to give them in the way of medicine, and said it would go away on it's own. One pup's has cleared up...the other still has one on one side of his butt, and this began around late June. The vet told me she could drain them, but they would probably return. It doesn't cause mine any pain, but it sure is unsightly! Hope it turns out to be something simple like that for your hound.

That looks to be about where the lymph nodes are. We had a male that contracted kennel cough and both sides of his lymph nodes were swollen. You can move them. He was treated by the vet with doxycycline for over three weeks. Take your hound to the vet to know for sure.

hey

hey, if he's not any better by monday he'll beging to the vet, this is every thing i've done so far. i am giving him cephalexin,500mg.
I took a needle and stuck it into the swelled area 4 times, each time going in from a diffrent angle i drew out normal blood on 1 of them, and i drew like a lighty colored red with some thicker cream colord" more white then cream. then i got a cotton ball and put gentle idiodine on the out out side. i am thining that it's a epidermal inclusion cyst mainly because it is the only thing that looks, and has the same symptoms but i do not know for a fact. A little more time and it will hopfully start to go down,i hope.

1 of mine had something similar several yrs ago. I freaked, went to vet they lanced it, drained it and then i washed it out with betadine/saline mixture daily until it healed..no problems.

jsut had one to have a swelling on face, needled it, gave ceph 2x daily, its gone now. another one had the same thing, used same process but hers busted on it own and healed.
