Anybody know how to get ahold of Townsend Dunlavy?

I alway enjoyed reading his articals in the older bloodlines. Seemed to me this guy really knew his dogs and was very excited about what they were and could acomplish. Just wondered if Townsend was still around and how to get ahold of him.

Give him Max McCoy's info. also. He wrote about once running an antelope to death on foot, they both are about on the same plane.

I can only assume you and Townsend have hunted a lot together. How did your dogs compare to his on coon?

No, I haven't but but I can say a few things. I also am partially disabled, I have had 3 major back surgeries. Hardware installed, etc. I get around very well for someone in my shape. I in no way shape no form could nor would hunt in a place that I would routinely need rappelling gear. Personally I feel that if someone is well enough to use this equipment to hunt they are NOT disabled to the point that they couldn't carry on with public work as he claims he can't.

Also I have had a few friends that have hunted with his dogs when he DID try them in comp. hunts years back. They said they were the poorest excuses for dogs they ever hunted with and once he saw they couldn't cut it in competition hunts then they all of a sudden become "multi species predator dogs" otherwise known as trashy to all of us. I do know several people that live fairly close to him, none of them have ever seen of any of his professional pest control work he brags about.

His articles are just a self aggrandizing tribute to his ego and his dogs. I am pretty sure you will be hard pressed for, or to find where I have bragged about what my dogs can do or their accomplishments. Most people list a string of acronyms a mile long in front of their names if they have them. I have some that has those little letters but don't use them, I think it is silly unless someone ask me what titles they have.

Also I have heard some of his stories about his dogs running coon for great length of time. Personally if my dogs took that long to put a coon up once it was up and going I would put a bullet in their head.

But lastly Loyd here is your chance, since he is your hero. Go by and get him and a couple of his best "multi species predator dogs" and load up and come to NC. We will have a fun hunt. Now I will say at the onset your hero TD will be at a disadvantage from the start, my dogs don't run hogs, foxes or any of that crap. So it will just be coons or if you want to go out in the day rodents and we will see how they would stack up against the great dogs of your hero.
