Garmin Question

I have just purchased a Garmin system. I have upgraded the software on the astro and the 40 collar, so I got that covered. Now I want my collar battery to last as long as possible and with the quickest updates. So I was wondering if any of you had the up date time related to hours broke down. Like 5 seconds=x amount of hours and 10 seconds=x amount of hours. So on and so forth. Plus how many seconds are you all using? Also one last thing, im gonna run it with my Marshall until I get completely use to it. Am i gonna see any interference while running both systems? Thanks all, sorry lengthly question.

The battery life is supposed to be 17 hrs on 5 seconds and up to 36 hrs on 30 seconds. I would reccomend using the 5 second setting.

Well, Since no one else is going to say sometihng I guess I'll dissagree some here..

I'm opposite, I recomend 30 second updates.

If something happens, that collar can be dead the next morning on five second updates.

Me, I'm prone to bad luck, Blown out tire, slide off the road in the snow.. Running into closed gates, Blow downs from a Storm, and run out of chain saw gas!.. etc Etc the list goes on and on. Needing to take a dog or a family member to the vet or doctor in an emergency. Of coarse me and the wife were out hunting on her due date.. So that alone was probably pushing it.. Dogs going Deep to me are a couple hours hiking in for them.

Something can and often will go wrong in my hunt..

30 second updates are plenty of time to see what and how the dogs are doing.
This summer, we spent 6 days looking for a friends dog that was on 5 second updates. due to the fact that the battery was dead the next morning.

Back with telementry no one pulled out Antennas every 5 seconds or even most hunting trips, they were tucked behind the back seat and we only used them when we couldn't hear the dogs,

I Don't know why people feel the need to have 5 second updates now with the garmin.

Stop looking at the screen and enjoy the music. Use the garmin when you need it, and 30 seconds isn't going to bother you!

Good Luck!
Buddy
