They hunt with hounds in South Africa. Years ago a hunter came to the US and traveled around to see a lot of the big time breeders. They hunt cats, wild hogs and other game with hounds.

you might want to be carefull. I sold some pups a while back and a guy sent me a moneygram and sent to much. He sent a e-mail explaining the problem. so i thought no big deal he wanted the money sent back. So I took them to the bank they cashed them I sent him the money back and a week later the bank calls and said they were fake money grams and wanted me to pay back the money. SO BE CAREFULL

Their Are Quite a few Houndsmen in South Africa !!!!

And they have found that certin Crosses of English Foxhound, French and American Hounds really suit their Nitch ..

Jackels are becoming their Main Chase, then their smaller Cats and the Forest/Bush Pig (which Runs like a Bat out of He11) ..

In some ares they can use Hounds on Leopard or by Damage Permit..

Here is a link to Roy Sparks in South Africa Looking for the Right Cameron Breeding ..

These are the Grand Parents, Aunts, Uncles to My Rees'e GS Hound .. In South Africa

WHAT DO SOUTH AFRICANS HUNT WITH HOUNDS

Guys I hope you were all answered on what we are doing with hounds and in South Africa....maybe we should add that we are taking many hunters from the US on unforgettable hunts. The guys who have been here always want to come back for more.

I dont think you should worry too much about dealing with most of us. We are all the same good and bad.

IN MY OPINION HOUNDS BEING HUNTED THERE WOULD BE JUST LIKE BEING HUNTED HERE....JUST DIFFERENT QUARRY.

WHERE AS HERE IT'S GENERALLY, COON, BEAR, BOBCAT, MOUNTAIN LION AND EVEN SOMETIMES DEER.

OVERTHERE IT COULD BE JUST ABOUT ANYTHING! THERE ARE 100'S OF GAME ANIMALS OVER THERE.

I THINK IT WOULD BE AWESOME TO SEE A HOUND PACK IN ACTION ON THE BIG PLAINS OVER THERE!

I BET IT WOULD BE FAST TOUGH HUNTING THOUGH, THAT WOULD REQUIRE SOME DOGS WITH SUPERIOR NOSES AS DRY AS IT IS OVER THERE.

Thats a great picture of the leapord and the hounds.
I bet that was an awesome chase.
I think its great that they are doing some hound hunting in South Africa.
If the outfitter is repitable, there shouldnt be any problem dealing with them.

A few years back I had a guy call me from Az looking to buy a pup for some of his family to ship to South Africa. I asked him what they used they for and as Majestic Tree H said they use them alot of their brush pig's. He asked me what he needed to do to book his pup and I told him to just send me a $50.00 deposit. In a couple of days I got his check for the deposit but instead of just sending the deposit he had sent the whole $300.00 for the pup.
We talked a few more times on the ph and then I didn't hear from him for a month or so. When he finally called me back he said he was sorry he hadn't called sooner but he had been gone back to South Africa. Then he told me that his buddies back home had decided they didn't want to spend the money to ship the pup over there. He asked me if I thought I could still sale her or what and I tol dhim that shouldn't be a problem. Then I asked him if he wanted me to send him his money back he told me no and asked if he needed to send me more money for feeding her......

The female went on to be Gr.Nt.Ch. Dark Mtn Crankin Streak.

He might be looking to cross some Redbone and Rhodesian Ridgeback. The Ridgeback is used for hunting lions. Might want to keep with the red color as the Ridgies are colored the same as a Redbone.

BEWARE!

I received a letter in the mail from a man in S. Africa - he wanted to buy 100 coonhounds & said he'd send me a moneyorder in advance. When I was a newspaper reporter I did an investigative piece on the "Nigerian Scams" and followed the trail on a situation with one of our town's county employees. The paper allowed me to make phone calls to Africa. The overpaymeny scam is the most popular one - and most banks don't realize the moneyorder or cashier's cheque is phony UNTIL IT BOUNCES! I also attended an FBI seminar on these scams & they passed around actual samples of the phony documents. It was IMPOSSIBLE to recognize that they weren't "the real thing."
I also had a phone call from a man with an Australian accent wanting semen from one of my dogs. After checking around I discovered he's a known "front man" for several scams that get money from trusting coonhound people.
After my scam stories appeared in our newspaper we received a letter (within 3 days of the first stor) that was mailed in the U.S. begging us not to judge Nigeria and S. Africa so negatively! These people have connections worldwide - it's big business making money off of trusting Americans.
Yes, they DO hunt with hounds in Africa - but beware of those who contact you wanting to send you funds.
