how do go about misusing a dog that has not been struck in on the third bark, had this happen twice on same night and l have not judge before that night.

l even ask if it was there dog on second bark , and it was not still struck in till the 5th bark , it was my first time judging in over ten years, and it happened with both the other 2 handlers, what should l have done , because l told them both what they should have done but wasn't sure what to do and l let it go!

You go about it just the same as if their dog was caught by the 8 on track, or if the 2 caught them on the tree. When that third bark comes and goes without a strike call, those points get awarded then minused. The only difference is when the time catches them it's most likely the dogs fault.

What you should have done was when the handler sturck his dog finally simply state that you were minusung his dog that strike and he had three barks to strike back in on or you were going to scratch his dog using Rule 6 (e) On second offense if handler fails to strike his dog on or before the third bark, after the first minute, each time dog(s) is released. (This rule is to be rigidly enforced.)


Unless it was within the first min then he doesn't have to strike the dog until after the min is up.
