I have two dogs with Ehrlichia, the older dog was diagnosed with it at two years old; he was an extremely hard going dog, made NTCH at a year old. We noticed he was "down" a lot, and finally found a vet that could treat it. We were hunting him six nights a week and he was running out of "gas"; treated him with Doxycycline and rested him and he was good to go. The most important thing is to watch the dog; both dogs have "indicators" that precurse their slow down. The older dog, watch his eating habits, when he leaves food in his bowl, go to the vet immediately. The most important thing to do to avoid tick born diseases is to keep the ticks off of them. Use every thing at your disposal to keep them tick free and avoid the "slow down" and expense of treating the disease. Tom
