Really need some good input!!

I have a 2 year old walker dog male! Has a 2nd place win towards nitech but could have more! The dog was only 40% accurate when I bought him at 20 months & been hunted very little! I have a lot of sweat & time in the woods with this dog he is now 75 to 80% accurate. Will do it with or with out other dogs good loud loud mouth nise classy tree dog tight mouthed on track love him except 1 thing! This is where I need you alls advice! A month ago finally treed his first slick tail for me after his 3rd one & 3 serious talking to he will not tree one anymore (so far) but here lies the problem I have run into! Went to a hunt twice now 3 dogs slam 2 grinners that night my dog does not back them but he waits till we walk away from tree to listen for him then he comes in! What can I do to get him to bust in the country & tree a coon istead of hanging out around the tree! He could have won 2 cast this way but instead I ended with zero other dogs minus point! Any ideas? Never have knocked him a grinner out either but he has had only around 20 coon knocked out on him his whole life!

Just be happy he didn't tree with the other two dogs. Unfortunatly nothing we do can make a dog bust in there, all we can do is hunt them, we can't change there go. Just hunt him and knock several coon out to him when he does a good job on them. Many many dogs act goofy when trash runners are in the cast.

Sounds like a nice young dog, but you wont make him better in the hunts. I would hunt him alone through a coon season. Spank his as$ when hes slick or when he has a grinner and put the fur in his mouth when hes right.
Independent coondogs that will ignore the idiots require alot of nights in the woods ALONE.

turn him loose on roads or 4 wheeler trails for a month or so until he goes hard when you cut him loose in woods... it works sometimes...

If he goes hunting by himself and just comes to other dogs trees. I would do 2 things. First I would hunt him while a dog was bawling in the box and move the truck every now and then till he learned to ignore it. Then I would hunt him with a possom treeing son of a gun and go to the possom dog tie it up, let it tree and take your dog on down the creek. If you hae to you can leave him on the leash till he starts pulling on a track.
Might trap a possom and give him more reason to want to get further away from one too. LOL

i have had dogs that would come in when another dog trashed. i would keep pleasure huntin him and when he is not on a possum tree and comes to you pet him up and send him on out. he may or may not get out of that habit. you may want to watch what kinda trashy dogs you hunt him with some time they tend to back slide.
