Armadilla killed in Iowa

I heard on the news today that a diller was killed around the Quad Cities area. Look out you hunters from the south if we get a chance to break our dogs off dillers we might get a chance to win some big hunts down south. If a diller chases you are you suppose to climb a tree or run. I have never seen one before.

Never had a decent dog that didnt have to be broke from running dillers. They are quite tasty too. We didnt have them until the seventies. Now they are everywhere.

dilla

i am in alabama and they are everywhere and every young dog i have ever hunted i have had to shock or beat them cause of dillas. but once you get it through the dogs head to leave them alone its usually not a problem anymore now you will go through hell breaking the dog but once he is broke you got it made. by the way kill all the dillas you see cause they multiply very fast and they take over the woods.

They do take over and multiply fast thats for sure. I know that they are moving north. I live in central Missouri and they are as far north as Jeff City but haven't seen any farther north like around Moberly where I live. I grew up in IA and it does seem like that is too far north for them but I guess any thing is possible.
I have never had a dog run one that I know of though. Maybe thats what they were running the other night when they kept putting it in a hole if they dig that fast, lol. I really doubt it though.
Good luck with breaking them off of them by beating them or shocking the **** out of them though. I have never believed that it takes that harsh of treatment and have owned some good dogs. A good kick in the ass or pulling on their ear will do as much good. I have seen dogs ruined by shocking them.

I had a 15 lb fiest that would catch them by the tail, drag them out of a hole and snatch them backwards about a foot at the time but she could do it fast as you can walk. She'd find me and I'd run the soil auger through them for her.

You might try to catch the first one you see but watch out, they jump about 4 feet in the air when they're scared or shot. A friend got his nose broken that way.

A doctor neighbor had a brand new Cadillac. He stradled one and it jumped and broke his air ride suspension. Always looked like a dog dragging it's butt across the carpet after that.

I was wondering what a mucket is as well but its hard telling. Grew up about 20 minutes north of Troy and to hear those guys talk its hard to tell, lol. Lots of good tales told around that club as I remember.

I dont know much about them thangs but I live in middle TN and every drive I take west during the summer I see them inching closer to me. First it was Memphis, then Jackson, then this side of the TN river, then Dickson and now Nashville and the Boro and last in Watertown. I drove to ARK last week and them Dillers were splattered everywhere on the interstates.

Nobody in the whole world has ever been able to find a Mucket when they tree one.

Hope that helps.

You may not have been here at the time but a few of years ago a freind of mine found one in his yard in Higbee just south of Moberly. They had a pic of it in the paper with an agent from the MDC.
